Property SummaryBramble Bridge Barn is a charming five bedroom house with private gardens and country views, situated on a leafy lane in the hamlet of Wheathill in South Somerset. This lovely stone built property is one of three barns converted from farm buildings twenty years ago by a local builder, and has been a happy family home for him and then for the current owners.
This lovely home has wonderfully flexible accommodation, and the ground floor makes the most of connections to the gardens outside, with French doors leading outside from many of the rooms giving a Mediterranean vibe. There are also two entrances at the front of the house - the first is the main entrance which leads into a fabulously light reception hall. The alternative entrance leads into a really useful hallway which is currently used for a home gym. With an adjacent shower room and a downstairs guest bedroom across the hallway, so this suite of rooms could be used for guests, or for Air BnB or as a separate office area from someone working from home. The bedroom has doors leading out to the garden and the sunny patio.
One of the highlights of this property is the light and spacious kitchen, with grey units by Wren, a quartz work surface, sky lights and lovely exposed brickwork. A stylish dark wood floor which runs through into the light and bright garden room, which is a great space to relax or for children to play while dinner is cooking. The garden room has bifold doors and roof lights which bathe the room in light and really connect the house with the outdoors. The kitchen has a door leading out to an alfresco eating area and the garden room has steps leading out into the garden and south facing patio, so you really get a sense of the outdoors being embraced as part of the home. Both the kitchen and garden room are warmed by underfloor heating which gives a cosy feel in winter and gives a streamlined feel.
The main hallway has a wonderful flagstone floor, and leads to the practical downstairs cloakroom and utility room as well as the dining room. With full height glass windows flooding the area with sunlight, exposed brickwork, wooden floors and more doors leading out into the garden, this is a great space for entertaining or for working at the dining room table. A hallway leads along to the sitting room which has a cosy electric fire and French doors to outside, and to the guest bedroom, shower room and gym/ second hallway.
The stairs rise up to the first floor and a mezzanine landing, leading to the rooms on the first floor where there is a fantastic master bedroom with an ensuite bathroom and a walk in wardrobe, with lovely exposed brickwork which gives the room great character. There are three further bedrooms as well as a nursery and study area, which have great features such as exposed beams and brickwork. There is also a spacious family bathroom with a gorgeous roll top bath and sky lights, perfect for relaxing.
At the front of the house is a generous gravelled area with space for three cars, and a stone built garage/outbuilding which is great for storage. There are private south facing gardens at the side and back of the house which are fully enclosed with access from the front of the house via a gate. To the side of the house is a further gravelled area with a door through to the kitchen which is perfect for al fresco suppers or mid morning coffee in the sunshine, and there is also a further parking space accessed via gates. The garden wraps around and runs along the back of the house, with a patio area just outside the back of the house with doors from a number of the rooms, perfect for relaxing with a drink and a book, or for socialising with friends and family. A hedge borders the gardens at the rear which provides privacy, and the rest of the garden is enclosed by a low wall which allows the gorgeous views across the neighbouring countryside to be appreciated. Raised vegetable beds and a greenhouse complete the fantastic gardens.
