Whyte House is situated in the Historic town of Langport overlooking the Somerset levels, one of England’s most unchanged landscapes. This small thriving town has a wide range of facilities including health care facilities, supermarket shops, banks, library doctors, dentists, public house, cafes, churches and primary school. The town is becoming increasingly popular, perhaps partly due to the very stylish restaurant cafe´ and deli shop known as ‘Kitchen’. There are pleasant walks around the town and attractive picnic areas beside the river.

Somerton provides similar amenities and there are also the nearby bigger towns of Glastonbury, Street and larger commercial centres in Taunton and Yeovil all within easy reach which offer a full range of sporting, recreational, shopping and arts facilities.

Communications to this area are excellent with the A303/M3 to London; the A303 dual carriageway is about 5 miles away which leads to the M5 at Taunton. Railway connections are also good with Castle Cary and Taunton serving London Paddington and Yeovil/Sherborne serving London Waterloo.


There are several excellent schools for children of all ages within reasonable driving time including in the independent sector: Millfield, Hazelgrove, The Bruton Schools, Sherborne Schools, and Taunton schools. There are also superb primary schools in Langport, High Ham (nearby village) and Long Sutton as well as the nearby Huish Academy State School and Strode Sixth Form College in Street.

On entering the town from the north, as North Street turns sharply right, instead take the steep left hand turn up Hill St. At the top of the hill by the house with the big arched double doors, turn right into Bush Place. The house can be seen on the left behind the wall.
