Babcary is known as one of the most charming villages in Somerset, is surrounded by beautiful countryside and borders Sparkford Vale. Village life is vibrant and there is a sense of community spirit- the lack of through traffic allows for an unusually free environment for children to roam freely! It is well known for its excellent Grade II listed 17th century local pub (The Red Lion), its playing fields with public tennis court and its 14th century Church. The ”Spar" store is 2 miles away and further shopping can be found in the nearby market towns of Somerton and Castle Cary which are five and six miles respectively, both offering a range of day to day amenities. Nearby Clark’s village retail outlet in Street offers the usual chain stores. Yeovil is a 15 minute drive.

Transport links are good with Castle Cary’s mainline railway station with direct services to London and the South West just 15 minutes away, and the nearby A37 is easily accessible to Bristol and Bath . The A303 is with direct access to London and the South West is five minutes drive.


Excellent local state and independent schools include Hazelgrove, Millfield, All Hallows prep school, the Bruton schools, Downside and Strode College.

State schools include the Blue School in Wells, Ansford academy in Castle Cary and Strode College in Street. There are several good local primary schools in nearby Lovington, Keinton Mandeville and Baltonsborough
