Property SummaryThe Property
Woodstock house is a delightful contemporary family home, situated in the pretty village of Henton, a short drive from Wells. It was originally purchased “off plan” by the current owners and built in 2001. More recently, in 2007, the kitchen and bathrooms were upgraded to a very high standard and all the windows were replaced and are fully double glazed. The house is set in approximately ½ acre with the garden laid mostly to lawn.
The property is approached through an attractive graveled driveway via some wooden gates.
The ground floor has solid oak flooring throughout and comprises of the hall, a wonderfully spacious kitchen diner and comfortable seating area with an oak framed vaulted ceiling, with floor to ceiling windows and doors leading out onto the terrace creating indoor outdoor living. There are four further reception rooms including a dining room, a drawing room, a family room and an office. The kitchen has a beautiful limestone floor, fitted units with a built-in microwave oven as well as an ‘island’, a gas hob and electric oven and stunning granite work tops. The under-floor heating in the kitchen makes the whole room feel really warm and inviting. Off the kitchen is a utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer. The dining area is light and airy and opens out onto an attractive paved terrace and the lawns beyond – an ideal setting for a summer BBQ! The other reception rooms offer ample entertaining space and comfy family areas to relax in – the drawing room has a very attractive stone fireplace and lovely views to the lawn.
Upstairs, there are four good sized double bedrooms, a fifth single bedroom and three bathrooms, of which two are en- suite. There is a large dressing area leading to the master en-suite. All the bedrooms have fitted cupboards, allowing for plenty of useful storage space, fitted carpets, and lovely views of the gardens and the countryside beyond. The bathrooms are modern and contemporary with slate floors and power showers as well as under floor heating.
The garden is mostly laid to lawn, is surrounded by mature trees and is accessed from both the kitchen, utility and the drawing room. There is a lovely paved terrace at the rear of the house and a stream that flows at the bottom of the garden. At the front of the house, there is a well maintained and attractive gravel driveway that offers plenty of parking. There is also a double garage which can be accessed from the utility area.
Woodstock house is well situated in the popular village of Henton, four miles from Wells and the Mendip hills. Henton is a thriving community with various societies and clubs, and the village hall was rebuilt in 1999. Nearby Wells offers all the usual attractions of a market town with supermarkets including Waitrose, Morrisons and Tesco’s, a cinema, various restaurants including the award winning ‘Goodfellows’ and Wells Cathedral, one of the most beautiful cathedrals in England. Bristol airport is an easy 30-minute drive.
