Situation
Woodstock house is well situated in the popular village of Henton, four miles from Wells and the Mendip hills. Henton is a thriving community with various societies and clubs, and the village hall was rebuilt in 1999. Nearby Wells offers all the usual attractions of a market town with supermarkets including Waitrose, Morrisons and Tesco’s, a cinema, various restaurants including the award winning ‘Goodfellows’ and Wells Cathedral, one of the most beautiful cathedrals in England. Both Bath and Bristol are within commuting distance and there is a main line railway station with links to London in Castle Cary just a few miles away. Street and Glastonbury are 20 minutes away. Bristol airport is an easy 30-minute drive.
There are excellent state and Private schools in the area including highly regarded primary schools in Wells, Millfield prep and senior school, the extremely sought after Wells Blue secondary school, Wells Cathedral School, Downside School, All Hallows Preparatory School and Millfield.
The area is also well known for its variety of sporting and leisure facilities and for walking, cycling while sailing and fishing can be pursued at Chew Valley Lake. Leisure centres can be found at Wells and Shepton Mallet. Wells, Mendip and Farrington Golf courses are conveniently located close by and Horse Racing enthusiasts are catered for at Bath and Wincanton Race Courses.
