Also close by are Bruton (home to the now famous Hauser and Wirth gallery and “At the Chapel” restaurant) and Shepton Mallet which has major supermarkets and weekly market.
Local independent schools include All Hallows and Hazelgrove prep schools, Millfield, and Sunny Hill Girls school and Kings Bruton. State schools include Ansford Academy, Sexeys Bruton and the Blue school in Wells.
For commuting, Castle Cary has a mainline station ( 5 minutes away) to Paddington (1 hr 50 mins), plus Templecombe (12.5 miles) offers direct services to London Waterloo (2 hrs). Communications by road are excellent with A303 providing a link to the M3, M25 and London or the West Country.
