Property Summary

Parklands Barn is the perfect, idyllic hideaway with a sense of rural tranquillity that belies its proximity to the bustling and fashionable town of Bruton. Situated at the end of a country lane, surrounded by farmland, this delightful barn conversion is a mere five minute walk into the town and an even shorter stroll to the world renowned Art Gallery, “Hauser and Wirth” and its much revered restaurant “The Roth Bar”.
This unique property, built of local stone, is approached via a paved and gravelled driveway and entered through an unusual arched doorway flanked by curved glazed panels leading into a spacious entrance hall. The open kitchen/diner is the heart of the home and sees the sun rise and set through the numerous windows overlooking the garden. Fitted units, offering plenty of storage, surround a generous island with integral hob and overhead extractor and underfloor heating throughout. Double doors lead out to a beautifully planted kitchen garden with room for outdoor dining. An additional set of double doors lead outside via an open oak structure, known as a Loggia.
Continuing downstairs is a sizeable sitting room with adjoining reception area featuring a wood burner and overhead beams. A double bedroom, again with large glazed double doors, has its own bathroom and separate entrance thus providing the option as accommodation for guests or as an ideal secondary income stream.

Upstairs from a wide, spacious hallway are three double bedrooms, a study and a family bathroom all overlooking the surrounding countryside. The master bedroom, with en suite, has an uninterrupted and exclusive view framing the solitary structure of the Dovecote. This limestone tower is a Grade 11 listed monument built between the 15th and 16th Century and really is an unexpected bonus to this already interesting and individual home.

An impressive and thoughtfully planted kitchen garden prolifically produces an annual abundance of vegetables and herbs to include carrots, chives, thyme and chillies to name just a few. Conveniently positioned behind the kitchen there is also plenty of space for al fresco dining.
The pretty garden is absolutely secluded and surrounded by farmland with mature trees including crab apple, willow and maples offering shade and structure. The boundary is denoted by a trickling stream, a charming addition to this English country garden.
Outside storage can be found in two sheds to the side of the property, useful for garden furniture and equipment.

Please note that this house is attached to a neighbouring outbuilding in a minor way.
