Daisy Cottage is tucked away behind the main street of the popular Dorset village of Longburton. The original cottage dates back to the 1800s and has been tastefully extended to make a light, spacious home.
A stable front door opens into a handy boot room, which leads into the sitting room in the oldest part of the cottage. This is a cosy and welcoming room, lovely and light with windows to the front and back, and an open hearth with a wood burner.
From the sitting room you step through into the new part of the cottage. The large, very light kitchen has been beautifully designed with granite worktops, cabinetry painted in Farrow & Ball’s ‘Borrowed Light’, a Rayburn range as well as a Neff eye-level oven and electric hob and a double ceramic sink. French doors lead into the west facing conservatory. The conservatory is a perfect space for dining and entertaining and opens out to the pretty cottage garden. The light floods in with a mixture of glass and solid roof panels keeps it pleasantly cool in the summer. There is also a laundry room and a downstairs shower room off the kitchen. Karndean flooring has been laid throughout the extension area.
Upstairs on the first floor there are three double bedrooms, a modern family bathroom and a roomy airing cupboard. Board and ledge latch doors keep to the traditional cottage feel. From one of the bedrooms there is an open staircase leading up to an attic room in the eaves, this area would be an ideal children’s playroom or valuable storage space. Two Velux windows let in plenty of light.
The west facing enclosed garden is private and not overlooked and a true cottage garden style with a lawn and well stocked borders and there is a patio area with plenty of room for a table and chairs. A lovely old stone outbuilding makes a perfect log store and there is also a summer house.
There is on-street parking nearby along Longburton or opposite by the church.
Longburton is a popular Dorset village with a church, a pub and a village hall and is just 3 miles from the market town of Sherborne.
