7 Providence Place is one of a row of cottages in a quiet haven behind the bustling high street of Bruton. Much of its original character is still intact and it has been tastefully extended to provide a modern kitchen and shower room.
The traditional wooden front door opens into the sitting room. This room embodies the feeling of a cosy cottage, with its original flagstone floor, a woodburning stove in the fireplace and a painted wood turned staircase in the corner. French doors to the garden and a trio of little windows to the front. Leading from the sitting room is a pretty galley kitchen with tongue and groove painted cabinets, wooden worktops and a white sink. It has a built-in electric cooker and hob, integrated dishwasher and space for washing machine and under-counter fridge/freezer. At the end of the kitchen there is a handy lobby with a stable door to the back garden, and the shower room which is tiled, with a modern white suite and windows to the side and the rear.
The turned staircase leads up to two bedrooms.
Upstairs keeps much of the cottage’s original character too, with stripped floorboards, a cast iron fireplace and cottage doors. The second bedroom has a wooden ladder staircase up to a useful attic space, with a Velux window and plenty of storage room.
The cottage is approached along a footpath at the front. At the back there is a long garden with a terraced lawn bordered by flower beds and a paved area at the top with room for a table and chairs. At the end of the garden there is a modern, light garden room and across from the cottage is a parking space for one.
