Property Summary

The Castle at Bowlish is a very fine property dating from the 1800’s which sits majestically in its plot. It is surrounded by a charming garden and enjoys a peaceful and tranquil setting. Elevated from the road this unique property has a fairy tale feel to it as you pass under the stone canopied, pillared porch and in through the wooden front door. At the centre of the house an open plan living area with engineered oak flooring provides two different choices of seating area; one cottage style with an open fire and the other in a more contemporary style with a gas fire. Off to the left a very attractive, spacious and light garden room connects the house with the garden featuring double doors out onto a south facing terrace. From the living area to the right a well proportioned kitchen dining room offers the perfect heart of the home space to live, work and entertain. Fitted into the feature stone fireplace is a wood burning stove for making cooler evenings and winter dining cosy. On through from the kitchen a conservatory with utility room adjacent leads through to large courtyard which is perfect for al fresco dining at any time of day. There is a greenhouse here so home grown tender herbs and vegetables can be conveniently harvested to use in the kitchen. The layout of the groundfloor accommodation with access on both sides to the garden make this home perfect for relaxed, modern family living and entertaining.

The staircase at the entrance rises to the first floor where there are four light and airy bedrooms with lovely views out onto the gardens. Two double bedrooms feature en-suite shower rooms, with a third double and a single room served by the family bathroom. The main bedroom is double aspect with a lovely feature being a door out onto the rear garden, perfect for heading outside on a sunny morning with coffee and the papers.

Outside

The Castle is accessed via a private driveway met at the top by a large parking area for several vehicles and a single detached garage. Wide curved steps sweep up to an elegant sunny patio area at the front of the house. The outlook is leafy and green with established trees bordering Coombe Lane giving a feel of seclusion and privacy. In total the garden, which wraps around the property, amounts to approximately three quarters of an acre of land that slopes upwards to the rear of the property. The lawned areas are interspersed with established trees, shrubs and planted borders. As a child this is a garden to have adventures in, with paths leading to secluded areas which pass by the two patios at the sides of the house and lead to a summer house at the top of the garden. This is a garden in which you can lose yourself but at the same time you are never far from access to the house.
