Longacre is in the popular and very attractive village of North Wootton just south of Wells in an area of outstanding natural beauty surrounded by some of the most beautiful countryside in Somerset with easy access to many footpaths and byways. There is a pretty Church with regular services, an annual Harvest Festival which is extremely popular and well attended, an active thriving community with various activities in the Village Hall including a mother and baby group, regular coffee mornings every Thursday, as well as a monthly village magazine and a popular pub. There is a village plan in place to help protect the integrity of the village by restricting unnecessary planning applications. North Wootton has been described by one village resident as “an idyllic archetypal Somerset village – a perfect place to bring up a family and only 10 mins from Wells”.

The ancient city of Wells, which is the smallest Cathedral city in England, and offers all the usual amenities that you would expect in a small town including banks, doctors surgeries, dentists and a selection of primary schools and the excellent Blue School and Wells Cathedral school. The high street is vibrant with a small selection of the usual chain stores plus a variety of independent shops and restaurants and pubs as well as a twice weekly market and a choice of supermarkets including Waitrose, Tesco, Lidl and Morrisons. At the very heart of the city is the medieval Cathedral, Bishop’s Palace and Vicars’ Close (reputed to be the oldest surviving residential street in Europe).

The Wells Festivals are increasing in popularity each year with the Literary Festival now taking place over two weeks and attracting big names in the literary world, the very well attended Food Festival and many regular Arts festivals. With both the Cathedral School and the Cathedral itself there are endless opportunities for musical concerts, plus regular shows and comedy nights in the Little Theatre.

Twenty minutes away is the very fashionable small town of Bruton which has the very popular restaurant/coffee/bread shop called ‘At the Chapel’ and the world famous Hauser and Wirth Art Gallery.

There are Golf Clubs in Wells and on the Mendips, as well as sailing and fishing which can be found on the Chew Valley and Blagdon Lakes.

Bristol, Bath and Frome are all within approximately an hour's drive and a mainline station with trains to London Paddington, is situated less than 12 miles away at Castle Cary, Templecombe offers trains directly into Waterloo, with further mainline stations at Yeovil, Bristol and Bath. Bristol International Airport, which offers long-haul flights, is 16 miles away.

There are excellent state and independent schools in the area including a well-respected primary school in the nearby village of West Pennard as well as several primary schools in Wells. There is also the extremely sought after Wells Blue secondary school, plus Wells Cathedral School, Millfield, Downside School, All Hallows Preparatory School and Kings Bruton all in close proximity. The highly regarded sixth form college Strode College is located nearby at Street.

BA4 4AE - From A39 follow the lane for approx. 3 miles through the centre of village past the church, turn left and left again into Tanyard Lane and the house can be found on the right.

From the A361 Glastonbury Road turn left and follow the lane into the village of North Wootton for approx. 1.5 miles, as you pass the Crossways Inn on your left turn right into Tanyard Lane and the house is on the right after sharp right turn.
