Surrounded by open fields; Monks Dairy House is a casual and cosy Somerset Long House with its origins in the 16th century. Listed beams believed to have originated from the Armada, a farmhouse style kitchen and great spaces provide a relaxed environment for family life and entertaining and it isn’t difficult to see why this home has only had two owners in the last forty years. From the entrance hallway off left is the kitchen and formal dining area and off right the formal sitting room and on through into the snug TV room. Inglenook fireplaces, original bread ovens, flagstone floors and beams underpin the character, history and charm of this wonderful family home. From the kitchen there is a downstairs cloakroom and boot room where doors lead out into the garden. The formal dining room lies just off the kitchen and from this room there is access to the garden room and on out onto the decked terrace and BBQ area. Whilst the garden room would benefit from some updating it is very easy to picture the flow and atmosphere of relaxed lunches, summer evening suppers and friends gathering in these different eating areas. There is a self contained annexe with its own entrance from the terrace and access too from the house if required. This has been successfully let via Airbnb as well as providing additional accommodation for guests. It is a relaxed and charming space with its own double bedroom, kitchen, bathroom and sitting room with wood burning stove; it even has its own sauna. Deceptively spacious on the first floor; at either end of the house there are two double en-suite bedrooms, two further double bedrooms, one being en-suite and a fantastic interconnecting suite of two rooms and en-suite shower room.
The house stands in just under an acre of attractively divided garden with lovely rural aspect to the front and rear. There are lawned areas and established beds, a rose garden, vegetable garden and fruit cages. Fruit trees include apple, cherry and pear. The tennis court is regularly used by the current owners as well as a double garage accessed from the driveway.
Isle Brewers is a village situated on the River Isle, 7 miles south east of the county town of Taunton in the district of South Somerset with a population of just 150. The first part of the name of the village comes from the River Isle, which separates the parish from Isle Abbotts and the second from the family of William Brewer (Briwere) who were the lords of the manor in the early 13th century.
The vibrant and popular town of Langport is just 6 miles away with its thriving cafes/restaurants, artisan bakery, butcher, award winning Langport Stores (http://www.thelangportstores.co.uk/) as well as a supermarket, pharmacy, vets and a number of other independent shops. There is excellent walking, riding and cycling in the surrounding open countryside and as well as Roman remains and the Battle of Langport was fought in 1645 during the Civil Wall and referenced in the Domesday Book. The icing on the cake are the lovely walks along Cocklemoor river where you can hire boats(https://www.langportboathire.co.uk/). In September there is the fabulous Langfest (ehttps://langport.life/council-news/langfest-2019-meeting/) that goes on all weekend.
In addition there are several good golf courses nearby and a thriving tennis club at Somerton. The motorway is only about 10 miles away as is the A303.
There are excellent state and independent schools including Millfield, Sherborne, Hazelgrove, Leweston, Bruton, and Taunton School. Sixth Form colleges at both Richard Huish, Taunton and Strode College in Street.
